The PRR was once again a huge success, Thank you again to The Caledonia Trailblazers for their generous donation. Registration was down a bit this year for various reasons but we still had 250 registered riders. By the time the total was given Saturday night the monies raised was.....drum roll please......$70,000 !!! This is not the end total as some people could not make it due to weather, etc. There was many decorated sleds, bra decorating contest, vintage snowmobile suit contest, raffles, chinese & silent auctions. Great fun was had by all, the weather cooporated and the bottom line is why we are there....a very humbling experience.
I got a lot of good riding in all week and hung w/ 8 friends who I don't get to see often. It was a mix of a lot of miles and some days a few miles and lots of smiles. Hit many areas I have not riden up there yet. I'm not a fan of lake riding but w/ the consistent freezing temps and riding w/ locals I found myself lake hopping a lot !!! Just once we had to cross a tad of open water All was good and would've never done it if unsafe (or on a yammy j/k). Had my first experience of getting hit by a deer. Thankfully I was only going about 30mph and the deer was just coming out of woods at a slow gallop. It hit my left side panel and my leg. He spread eagled to the ground, got up, shook it off and ran away. I looked at sled while sitting on it, saw no damage, leg moved good so kept going to catch up w/ leader. He was waiting a tad bit up the road so we shut down sleds, people behind me were freaking out from watching it then me taking off and I said get a pic of the deer hair on my sled !!! lol I came home w/ 625 miles, was gearing for 800 but like I said....2 days was about hanging on the sleds, doing little tours, being silly and enjoying time spent together.....there's no price tag or amount of miles you can put on that.
I'd have to say my season is done unless we get a March snow locally. Mile total w/ 3 trips north, nothing out of the my yard or local trails is 1,560. Not bad for one of the worst winters for around here....I'll take it !!
